Sharpe's Children

Post by morvgal58 » Fri Feb 21, 2014 4:08 pm

Just musing on the Books -v- Films of Sharpe. In the films he just has the one child - Antonia - but in the books he has (at least!) four: the baby with Lady Grace (neither of whom survive); Antonia with Teresa and his two children with Lucille. From his life style, one can only assume there were quite a few more!

No reliable birth control in those days. I'm wondering if there really were all those women who took such chances. It seems in the books, women seldom turned him down.

He would have had to have had a bath first mind, couldn't be dealing with all that grime and Lice too

Ah, Lou! You are indeed clever! I'd forgotten those little "details".

sexbath   I like the idea of Richard in a warm bath. But I do agree - I have often thought what such a man would really have been like - probably dirty, smelly, lousy with bad breath! On the other hand, most of the women were probably in a similar state so Richard's charismatic sexuality would transcend all.
