Any info. on UK 80's tv series: Reilly: Ace of Spies?

Post by Pudge » Mon Nov 07, 2011 5:44 pm

A friend of my hubby's at work told him about this old tv series that ran in the 80's over in the UK. It starred Sam Neill and even had Hugh Fraser in it. He watched it when he was stationed over there and told him it was very good. Based on the real spy that was the basis of Ian Flemming's 007 character.

Deep Discount DVD site here is running a 25% off all Brit DVD series and this one is listed as part of the discounted sale. My question is....is this worth buying? Did anyone watch this? Was it good? It's only $25.00 plus free shipping for 12 episodes.

Thanks!

Pudge, I remembered, when I read your topic, the title of this serie and an image of Sam Neill and how he was looking at that time but to be honest...I forgot the story totally...so can't help you with it...

Also I was born in the 70's so maybe that's the reason why I don't know exactly anymore what the serie was about..

I remember it well. The whole series is available on Netflix. It was particularly nice to see how the war impacted the general population and it showed a lot of lovely locations.

Just dumped Netflix two weeks ago! Had a one month free trial. I thought the whole thing was crap with awful selections and old, old movies with the most current release being like five months old. Wouldn't waste my time spending the monthly fee. Think I'll orderthe DVDs since it sounds interesting and you say it was good.

I love Reilly Ace of Spies - one of the best things Sam Neill has done in his career. If you love spy stories, it is worthwhile.

I remember watching it on Masterpiece Theatre. It was a very good series, wouldn't mind seeing it again.
