Fingers crossed. What a remarkable story, and how very sad the way Everett's life ended. This amazing lady's paintings are delightful.

I hope he takes this role, it sounds like a very good story.

That sounds so interesting! I would like Sean to play a "good" character, perhaps also in a romantic story... Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I have just been reading up on this fascinating story that I have never heard before and I will certainly be checking out her biography "The Illuminating life of Maud Lewis" - more reading Sean is making me do! (not complaining)

As Hemingway said "Wouldn't it be pretty to think so", but I fear maybe he is planning on keeping the SA under wraps in future...BIG SIGH. There are always lovely movies to look back on - Lady C, Extremely Dangerous, When Saturday, etc etc. I have THAT photo from AWGTA on the wall in my bedroom!!!

I found Maud's life story interesting. I don't normally watch romances but this seems to focus on her and her husband's life. My shed is bigger than the house she lived in! Her work was simple but delightful and it puts a smile on my face.

This is very disappointing news. Ethan Hawke is taking over the role Sean would have played in Maudie. I like Ethan Hawke and think he will be good in the role but it was such a good part for Sean.

That's a shame. I was looking forward to a romance of sorts

Wonder why they did not mention that Sean was lined up for this role? Maybe they did not want Ethan Hawke to look like second choice? (Personally I don't think much of him) I guess Sean is just too busy these days - it must be a case of 'grab him while you can, or you'll miss him',

I am also disappointed that Sean won't be in this film. IMHO it seemed like Sean's increasing commitments made filming an issue and the producers were fortunate to get Ethan Hawke as a replacement.

I am not sure whether to get excited over this or whether it is old news but a Canadian newspaper today seems to be saying that Sean is still part of Maudie and that it will start filming in August.

I am sorry, I have tried to hyperlink this several times but can’t get it to work. You need to highlight it and paste.

Maudie doesn’t currently appear on Ethan Hawke’s IMDb page but not sure if it ever did. It is odd as the director was very complimentary about EH joining the film but maybe he has pulled out in favour of something different or maybe this is just out of date journalism.
